Good laptop for around £300($580) - 400($775)?

Can anyone help me out. Actually, that is, help my friend out. She is wanting to buy a laptop for her boyfriend for his birthday for around the £300($580) - 400($775) mark. Does anyone know of any good deals around this price? I going to be used mainly for general office use and running some music software.
