Google Adds 3000 YouTube Movies For Rent

I have to agree, as streamline and simple as most of their products are I'm really dissatisfied with their layout when it comes to movies.

I think its only a matter of time before someone at Google updates it; until then I have other ways of watching movies.

I've actually watched quite a few movies on YouTube that were jsut loaded up by normal users, I think YouTube is cracking down on that though so that they can force their own service. Also Google is off it's rocker- $4 for a movie? That's half of what it costs me a month for Netflix and I can get 4x as much content. These companies are crazy. And Google has a serious problem if they can't turn the most visited movie site on the web into something profitable. How hard can it be?

Why would companies still launch new services like this while data cap all over the nation and even the world is on the horizon? If they are really serious about this, they should start lobbying for no data cap access or it is merely a waste of resource and time in the long run. Of all companies, Google should be the one start the lobbying as limited online access is going to seriously affect their business, including the online advertising revenue.

Facebook has the right approach, make it easy for the average Joe. Experimenting with "watch commercials to get credits" is a good idea for them. Google has the free movies, Facebook will have those free movies but make people "earn it by watching commercials". Anyway I think the facebook ease to pay for the movie with their internal credits is the biggest threat. Competition is generally good, but fragmented market and exclusives don't sound as good to me. Still, I wish Google all good in this.
