Google Chromecast on a Dell 1907FP Monitor

I'm trying to get a Chromecast to work on a Dell 1907 FP monitor I have. I originally used an HDMI to DVI-D adapter. The Chromecast starts and shows it's start up screen. Then everything goes black. I can connect to the Chromecast with my IPhone but there's no picture. Is there anything I can do in the settings or should I try another adapter? like the HDMI to VGA connector? Please Advise.

Another adapter is not likely to help as it's most likely why it's not working. Does the Chromcast work on HDMI directly? If yes, you can check with Google support to see if it will work with an adapter. Possibly an active HDMI to VGA converter may work, but for that price you may as well just replace the monitor with one that has an HDMI port and speakers, or a smaller TV.
