I've just got an idea. We should get some children from some slum and have them dance and go on a game show to promote a product and made a movie about it. And when we are done, we can just throw them back to the slum.

Doesn't sound to be very interesting. Also, the factor of high crime rate as quoted in the article can be major setback. You open the door and instead of gifting a camera, someone shoves a gun up your a**.

I might be being overly cynical, but isn't the idea that you don't want the winner to cash in on the prize? That way you get lots of people buying the product, hoping to win, while the person who wins never needs to be rewarded.

I imagine how the lucky contest winners, under the first floor laundry cleaners(alas Breaking Bad) will react when the crew of cameras come raiding into their lab.

im willing to bet every single detergent box will have a GPS chip embedded, in purchasing the detergent box you authorize Unilever to invade your privacy, of course they will call it targeted marketing

can you imagine if they knew exactly when you did your laundry (any time the detergent box moves from a stationary position) and how much detergent you use (based upon the number of times you moved the box and when the box finally leaves your home for the landfill)

what would you be willing to surrender for the chance of winning a prize....

Wow let's see; they are selling a detergent box for probably less than $5 US (stuff is cheap in Brazil) and they are going to include a GPS receiver and 3g modem to transmit the data? For what? to be able to guarantee a sale on the next $5 detergent box that they sell at a loss? :rolleyes:

@joebob2000

we not talking your tomtom garmin kind of device here, it dont need maps functions, doesn't need to know where it is, heck it probably doesn't even need to transcieve it just needs to be able to be picked up by a GPS system, it's not that far of current RFIDs in principle and function, which are dirt cheap to embed

and it's never about the next $5 purchase, your spending habits and lifestyle is far more valuable then $5, ever wondered why there is a starbucks nearby when your feeling thirsty, thats a little more then just convenient

The mods/admins were able to do this before the switch to the current Forum software in ~2006(?).

On another thought: Why not just salvage the GPS receiver/transmitter? There's a lot of pretty cool projects that can be done with a GPS receiver/transmitter.
