Grahpics: intel965 express chipset vs. ati 1400

so guys, i have 2 laptops i can choose from to use. either a laptop that has intel 965 express chipset video card or a laptop with ati 1400 graphics. which would u choose. looking for mild gaming yes i know either of them can play high end games. just looking for some games i can play. the intel one can play halo 1 and command and conquer gen zero hour and others i cannot remember.

i am currently using this one with 2 gb of memory with the t7700 intel processor.

i have the ATI Mobility™ Radeon® X1400 but i dont know if its 128 or 256 shared memory didn't think about looking for it.

so the first laptop has a intel core 2 duo 7700 processor. i believe the second laptop can support it. im not to sure i have not experimented on it.

i also had another question, the website says for the first laptop doesn't say it supports it processor types. i found a list of processors for socket p, does any one know what is my max for either laptop? i know it depends on the bios but i have been looking for awhile now to see which processor supported. as i said before the first laptop has a t7700 processor, i didn't know it could work until i ask a guy on ebay i bought the processor from. he said it will work, and if it didn't i can return it for a refund.

The mobility radeon is far faster, BUT, the two laptops have other large differences between them as well that you should be aware of:

the older Core Duo (without Core "2") is 32 bit only, whether or not you can actually put into it a C2D for a quick upgrade depends on the nature of the BIOS support and chipset revision (from memory).

The newer C2D laptop (1st laptop link you posted) is better all around. The Mobility Radeo x1400 is faster than the 965 integrated from Intel, BUT, both of these are too slow to run most modern games (say, newer than Half life 2) satisfactorily.

The Quadro NVS 110M is the slowest version of the workstation version of the Nvidia 7000 series. They are not even optimized for games driver-wise. Based on what I remember and reading this:

If you can do about over 500mhz, it'll be somewhat the same as the X1400. The X1400 has a 128bit wide memory bus whereas the Quadro 110 only has a 64bit bus. That TurboCache thing worries me on the Nvidia, because that 128 MB frame buffer is really only 64 MB onboard + 64MB borrowed from the main memory. This is not a fast setup.

But anyway, is there a particular reason why you are only restricted to older laptops ?

I totally understand! You need to make do, and those laptops are fine for older games, and even some newish games under reduced settings (which is fine with me if the game is good in other ways).

The laptop you linked to seems sweet specifications wise. 75% off ? How are you doing that ?

my friend uncle works at intel as the finicial guy and said he can get 50 to 75 percent off from the intel website and newegg.com. its no lie cause i have seen a actual email he sent to my friend. so now i just have to wait for the email to arrive to my friend. cause it takes him a week to respond non business related emails
