Hacked on Facebook

Hello,

Last night, my Facebook password was suddenly changed. I was notified about this on my smartwatch initially. When I was hacked I was using Google Chrome and was just browsing usual sites such as YouTube etc. I was able to change the password, but then someone changed the password again. Facebook said the location of where the password was changed was in China. I clicked this wasn't me. I turned on 2 step verification and changed my password. I also dissociated any Facebook apps that were no longer in use. While being in the Facebook settings, someone changed my password once again, and I had to go through a few security checkpoints to change it back.

I cleared everything in Google Chrome just in case. I switched over to Microsoft Edge and ran Malwarebytes, but it did not find any Trojan horses or keyloggers. I am now very concerned and also paranoid.

My question is, how may have this happened, and what may have allowed it? I am very concerned now and paranoid.

Are you using wireless connectivity: at home or in a public location?

Takes quite a bit of work/computing power to crack a strong (hopefully....?) password that quickly. I would also change any wireless network passwords and perhaps even the SSID.

Look at any recent downloads and consider the sources - something bad may have been slipped in as well.

Do not use any other passwords for other sites - especially financial.

Update your AV databases and rerun your scans.

I am in a rural area and use wifi. I ran Malwarebytes as well as Windows Defender, but they did not detect anything. Facebook showed the location where the password was changed was in China. After turning on 2 step verification, my password was not changed again. Perhaps a hacker found an exploit through a website in Chrome while Facebook was opened and changed the password? Or maybe a hacker got into my router? I am very concerned about this.

I will change the network password as a precaution.

If you are using Facebook connect login (which is an API integration used by tons of websites), all chances are that they got you there.
