so i needed to do an asingment for school outside so i took my laptop with me. when i got back home and charched my laptop, i noticed that it charched to 54% and 2 hours later it was still at 54% and my charcher was cold.
my laptop is now 3 years old and my laptop is a 15CL14 from BTO.
i dont know if its a hardware/software thingy blocking it from charching or if my battery is just half dead. i would like to know what it is before before i buy a new battery.
thank you in advance.
(its a 4400 mAH battery)

There won't be any settings that limit the battery charge in that way. It's either a problem with the battery or with the charger and since it seems like it charges fine up to 54% and I'd bet it works fine with no battery and just the power cord plugged in its a safe bet that it's the battery that's going bad.

Several of my previous laptop batteries died within 3-5 years

It has worked for 3+ years and i have tortured it quite badly sometimes as i didnt know better at the time. But i just wanted to know if it isnt some setting that has blocked it so i dont spend a lot of money buying a new one.
Also i thought it was quite wierd that it just stopped charching past 54% right under my nose (quite litely)

thank you very much for your response,
the cable does work normaly and without battery (but with cable) it will work fine.
i gues i am gonne need to buy a new battery whiche is also a good thing aas the battery that i have now does not last long (even without being half dead)

Also some people prolong their battery life by removing it whenever they don't use it. Like if you're just sitting at home doing nonimportant stuff on it while it's on the charger just take the battery out and let the charger power the laptop.

I never bothered because I'm the person that will forget to put the battery back in before unplugging it, or start doing something important and accidentally unplug the cable. Lol
