Have a problem w/HP laptop

when you turn it on it starts up shows the hp like its going to be fine then it beeps 2x and lists a bunch of things stating they have passed such as ram etc. and at the bottom shows 0211:keyboard error
press<f1> to resume <f10> to set up
if you try to press either nothing happens????
Any help would be great!! My son has LD and needs the laptop for school.

Your keyboard is either damaged or has become disconnected from the motherboard. Pop the keyboard off the machine (HP generally provides dissasembly instructions for their machines) and see if it's still connected.

Before you try that, though, I suggest you clean it. You'd be surprised how many times just cleaning something has fixed something i'm working on.

If you've got an external keyboard, go ahead and try hooking that up, too. That'll tell you if it's a hardware problem or not.
