Have an old Sony Trinitron HD ready KV-36HS500 with HDMI and coax input. Won't pick up OTA channels using antenna to coax inpu

Can't pick up OTA channels on my old Sony KV-36HS500 HD ready TV with antenna in to TV coax in put.

It must because I can get HD with a cable service and a cable box. Its an earlier model that was called "HD Ready"
I no longer have the cable service and am trying to "cut the cord" Thanks

cable box do the decoding. not the tv. ota digital need a digital box

I agree with rgd1101.. it's very likely your TV has a NTSC as opposed to an ATSC (digital) tuner.
