have older LG TV with two HDMI, audio in RCA, no audio output optical. Using Harman//Kardon AVR154. Cant get sound out of ext

As you said the TV doesn't have audio outputs.
If you can't get the audio from your external sources directly then there is no simple way to do it.
The TV could be modified to provide an analog audio output. You would connect a speaker to line level converter to the wiring that goes to the internal TV speakers. Not complicated. It would void the warranty.
