Is it possible to have a laptop that is only capable of a resolution of 1920x1080 with the Nvidia 1080 in it (supports 4k) running to an external monitor that supports 4k? The Clevo p775dm3-g has a 1920x1080 screen but the nvidia 1080 in it. If I got that laptop could i use it with an external 4k monitor? Thanks for the replies :)

You can most likely use it with a 4k monitor, however, you might not get it to run @ 4K. You should be able to hook up the monitor through HDMI or Displayport, whichever is available on the laptop, and both can run 4k@60hz. Your best bet might be to call customer service and ask them. Here it's gonna be if some one has it. Like I said, it *should* run, but that doesn't mean it's not connected to the CPUs graphics instead of the graphics cards graphics. Can't see why it would, but then, I've done stupider things.

I know it will 'work' with a 4k monitor. My question is this: if the native resolution of the laptop is 1920x1080, but it has the nvidia 1080 (which has a 4k resolution) can I connect it to a 4k monitor and run it at a resolution of 4k?
