Hi everyone,

I have these headphones now (HD598SE) and they are great... playing Xbox One games with sound coming from my TV directly into the headphones.
Now I'm wanting to add normal party chat into the mix... but I'm getting really confused!

(I have ordered the official Stereo Adapter and a cable (Y splitter?) that separates mic and audio).
I am considering getting a Modmic (although there seems to be a lot of different types of these! Omni/Uni??)

What do I need to get the same quality of audio, i.e. hear enemies approaching from different directions, yet combine this with party chat?
Do I need a DAC? Do I need an Amp? Do I actually need both???

Thanks in advance!!!

for headphone portion (hearing audio) you have a few choices.
1) use optical out of the system to a dac and amp
2) use the tv connection like you are using (i think you will still be able to hear chat audio fine)
3) use the output on the controller

for the microphone portion you have two choices
1) use a usb soundcard (there are certain ones which do and dont work) and plug an analog mic in to this
2) use a 4pole to 3pole adapter (its not a y-adapter or splitter.. but converts the 4 section audio/mic connection into two 3 section audio and seperate mic connections. most people call them headset adapters)

at bare minimum all you would need is an analog mic and either a compatible usb soundcard or headset adapter cable.

do you need a dac? not unless you use optical out of the console. some people find it worthwhile for quality increase but thats up to you.

do you need an amp? not unless you use a dac and possibly if you use the controller. from the tv probably not since you already use it like this and are not complaining
