I have no Idea of whats happening.

The HDD light stopped but windows still boots at slowest speed ever.

After booting everything is slow, takes several minutes to open explorer and firefox doesnt even start.

The only thing that seems to be taking 100% of my hdd is the antimalware service executable and system and compressed memory.

I cleaned the RAM, changed their places nas checked my hdd and thei look normal.

Strangely enough, looking at the performance tab, it reads 100% active time with top speed being 500kbps.

Any ideas of what can it be?

Hi there Xohac_,

What is your OS? Have you installed something, right before the issue occurred?

There's a chance that the HDD is failing. This is why, you can try to back up your data first. As your system is almost unresponsive, you can try to transfer your data under another OS. You can boot up Ubuntu from a CD or a flash drive, access the HDD and see if you will be able to transfer the most important data to another drive: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/267999-32-recover-data-mode

Once you've done that, you can test the drive: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

Attaching the drive with different SATA and power cables to another port would not hurt as well.

Let me know how this...
