Hello guys, I am a bit confused about my setup.

I recently got a 5.1 spearkers (LG HT805) click here to see image://

So here is the scenario, my tv is being used as the monitor, has only one hdmi (that is what I use for my GTX1060), the problem is how can I connect my speaker other than using the RCA cable (it does not support 5.1 obviously)

Question is can I use the hdmi on my LG HT805 and connect it to the DVI-D port using by using an adapter "hdmi to DVI-D adapter" and will I be able to to receive 5.1 surround sound? thank you in advance.

Solution
Yes. If your current system does not have an optical out, then you could get a sound card that does and use that. What motherboard do you have? It might already have what you need as well.

The HDMI port on the LG HT805 is output only. You cannot use it as an audio input.

Check the motherboard or sound card of your PC to see if it has an Optical Digital Audio output. If so, then you can connect that to the Optical Digital Audio input of the LG HT805.

Can I use a separate soundcard that has optical audio to get 5.1 surround?
