I am trying to watch tv on my laptop via hdmi cable to tv from laptop can't get laptop to pull up my tv? Denise

Whats your laptop model and Windows?

Connecting hdmi usually auto detects. Have you looked in display modes in Windows display settings?

Try Windows key + P. This combination toggles between different display modes.

If you wish to close laptop lid while displaying on TV, set in the power options in Windows when lid is closed to do nothing.

HDMI port on your laptop is output only, you can go form laptop to TV but not TV to laptop.
