Tried to connect my friend's Sony Bravia TV with her Sony HD recording box using hdmi cable and terrestrial ariel only. Although the tv now turns off the box as well as itself at the end of viewing, it seems only 1-way? They then are both turned on individually but the option to default into hdmi mode from box to tv doesn't happen. Also when selecting tv input, TV doesn't give HDMI options; unless forced to by going into it's settings. How do i get the two to talk to each other both ways? Unless I make the box playback a recording, I can't get it to play through HDMI cable as the tv always just kicks in on terrestrial freeview?

Solution
Hello,

It sounds like the TV's HDMI feature is what's causing this, known as HDMI-CEC. Sony calls it BRAVIA Sync. If that's not it, then I don't know what's wrong. The input menu should always appear, to select your desired input.

Yay thank you.. So it's unique to that model then? Would a scart lead help or would that defeat the object of having the HDMI clarity? Thanks again, Jackie
