Solved! Hdmi splitter problems

I'm trying to stream some nintendo switch gameplay. I have an hdmi splitter so I can send video to the capture card and to a monitor. When I plug both in, the monitor suddenly has a bunch of blue and green horizontal lines all over the screen. If I unplug the hdmi cord going to the capture card, the video looks fine again. I only have problems when the splitter is connected. Is it just a cheap splitter? I've had similar looking issues when using an hdmi auto switcher. Please help

A $4 one on ebay that was brand less. https://www.ebay.com/itm/202688716538

I'd say that's probably why it was on E-Bay for $4. If you really need one, get a new one from an actual store like Monoprice.com
