Hdmi to vga adpater

Greetings,
I just got a vga to hdmi adapter to connect my win 7 sony laptop to my vga projector. I get an error saying no signal. Are there any work arounds for this? I have seen posts saying that since hdmi is digital and vga is analog, they do not communicate.

Honestly your best bet is probably to use a USB to VGA setup.

Monoprice does sell a setup to go from HDMI to VGA. Be careful though as they have several options that are the opposite direction as well.

Can you link to the adapter you are using?
