HDMI to VGA

I have an HP pavilion 15 laptop and i would like another screen to help with work. The sad thing is i do not have a VGA port of any kind on the laptop. But i have plenty of things in the house with a VGA port. I do have an HDMI port on the laptop though. So I was thinking of using an HDMI to VGA cord to achieve another monitor. I am not sure if this will work or not or if i should buy something else to make it work. I wanted to buy one like this ->

works fine but you wont get 1080p you will only get the vga 480p

That won't work, it must be an active adapter. And vga is capable of 2048x1536 but most likely will be limited by the adapter. 480p max for vga hasn't been the case since the 90s.

sorry for the incorrect info, but yes it should work

i did a quick google search
max resolution is 1,920x1,200
but it will also depend on your monitor as well
