HDTV as a Monitor?

I am trying to connect my PC to my Samsung HDTV using VGA Audio Video Cable. The screen goes black. Can someone help me?

With the PC connected to the HDTV (and normal monitor) are you enabling the HDTV as a secondary monitor? This is normally done in your graphic card's control panel or your windows desktop.

If you do have the HDTV enabled as a secondary monitor, you may need to change the resolution output of your computer's graphic solution (discrete card or embedded graphics) to a resolution that your HDTV can accept.
