Headphones are not being recognized by my PC

I don't have an input or output for my front panel. I checked with my friend, in his device manager and found that under "Audio inputs and outputs", I don't have anything associated with Realtek. I tried with a USB headset I had lying around and it worked. How do I get an input or an output, solutions?
