Headphones for Gaming and Music

I have been planning on taking the next step in audio by throwing out my old Skullcandy's for some slightly more top-of-the-line headphones. I am also in the market for a gaming headset for PC. Rather than two pairs, I plan on getting one pair and a separate mic (especially because I'm more interested in good sounding games, not mic quality). I can only spend $120, and need crisp, clear highs. I also am not buying an amplifier.
