Headphones without mic, single audio jack on laptop, does the laptop mic work when connected?

I just bought myself a pair of these:

but I remembered when I got home that there is a single audio jack on my laptop for input/output and the headphones haven't got a mic.

If I want to use for example skype with my headphones on, will the mic on my laptop detect the sound?
Or will I need a splitter for the jack and a separate mic?(wich is to much trouble I think)

As soon as you plug in the head set the mic on your laptop will be disabled so just get an head set with mic you can go with this model http/en-us.sennheiser.com/pc-stereo-headset-gaming-internet-telephony-voip-131

that is exactly what I was wondering, if it would turn off just when something was plugged in.
I think I'll find some other headphones with mic on the cord, annoying wearing a headset all day when the mic will only be used couple of times a week

How do i enable it? I cant seem to figure that out.

Your built in mic should work with Headphones plugged in. If not I don't know what is wrong with your computer.
