Headset is connected, speaker on

Ummm i got a problem.when i want to listen to the music or watch movie or action that produce sound with my laptop and i connect my headset, the speaker still play the sound. Is it because the hardware or the setting. i'm using Realtek HD version 6.0.1.6856.And i got windows 7 ultimate by the way. Thanks

go to: control panel
- hardware & sounds
- (under sound) click the most right one: Manage sound devices? (I have different language)
- then click the left tab (play audio?)
- search your output for the headset (your speakers will be marked as standard device)
- if you found it: click on it and click on Use as standard device.
Now it should work
