I have an Asus EEE PC 1201PN. I'm trying to sell it but I need to return the netbook to factory settings which I can't figure out how to do. I'v tried putting it into google but I only come up with answers to similar eee pc netbooks which I have tried to no avail.

When I press F9 on startup, I have the following 2 options:

1)
Choose an operating system to start, or press tab to select a tool: Windows 7
To specifity an advanced option for this choice, press F8

2)
Tools: Windows memory diagnostic

Choosing Windows 7 just boots up my computer so I press F8 for the advanced options which gives me the following:
-Repair your computer
-Safe Mode
-Safe Mode with Networking
-Safe Mode with Command Prompt
-Enable Boot Logging
-Enable low-resoultion video
-Last known good configuration (advanced)
-Directory Services Restore Mode
-Debugging Mode
-Disable automatic restart on system failure
-Disable Driver Signature Enforcement
-Start Windows Normally

I figure it'd be under Repair your computer so I press that and I come to the following choices:
-Startup Repair
-System Restore
-System Image Recovery
-Windows Memory Diagnostic
-Command Prompt

I choose system restore but there's no option to return it to factory defaults. I have several restore points but they only date back a month and I'v had the netbook for over a year.

Please help, I'm not sure what to do.

I think I found a solution; format the hard drive and do a fresh windows 7 install from a usb drive and use the key on the bottom of my netbook to activate windows.

Hi jmido8,

Exactly how did you format your hard drive? Can you explain as you would to 'complete novice?' Thanks in advance. .

I have the exact same computer and the exact same problem as you.
