HELP!! i have a 1 jack combined Headset and a 2 jack Computer!!!

All i need is some Info on how to do this. First off. i have a 1 jack headset. and the headset as one Earmuff and a Mic connected. when i connect the Jack into the headphone jack, the mic doesnt work. and im too lazy to buy a Splitter. Can some one PLease tell me the solution?

I'm sorry to break the unbearable news but the only solution is either a splitter or a new laptop.
