I've sunk about 10 hours now into trying to find a laptop. Not just any laptop: the perfect laptop, so far, no dice. I'm about at my wit's end so while I continue searching, I thought I'd ask you fine people if you could point me in the right direction.
Parameters:
No budget
-I mean it: I'm looking to make an investment for 3+ years.
Small size
-Preferably 13-14, but up to 15 if everything else is perfect.
Top quality
-Currently using an HP of terrible build quality that I bought for the nice specs. I regretted it about four months in.
Screen
-No fancy touchscreens/gimmicks, preferably matte, but only requirement is 1920x1080.
Use
-Needs to be able to handle video playback and some light gaming. Let's ballpark it at "can run League of Legends at maxed-out settings." Not looking for overkill, but want to be able to get in a game or two, watch movies/TV in good quality, edit large-scale images, and handle the occasional business graphics program/presentation.
-Dedicated graphics card basically a must, to meet the above criteria. Intel's current HD integrated is not up to the job (I've tried). Currently using an Nvidia GeForce GT 630m and it performs just well enough to do what I need.
Battery life
-Here's a pain point. I don't care if it looks awful, tacky, bulky, etc., I need to be able to go a full day (8 hrs) without stopping and charging. Lenovo has some cool dual-battery stuff going on, but they fail hard on the graphics card bit.
Windows 7
-Another pain point. Can't stand 8, can't stand 10. I'm pretty good with installing Windows 7 on things not intended for it to be installed on, but the hardware can't lock me out. I've run in to some hassles before, but this is a relatively minor concern.
Everything else
-Don't care much about backlit keyboards, though they're nice; no need for webcams; no need for fingerprint readers (actually prefer to NOT have one); don't care about external audio (almost exclusively use headphones); don't care about brand (though not a fan of Toshiba); don't care about trackpad format/style, as long as it's reasonable; would like a CD-drive, but I'm well aware that the world's a-changin'; don't need SD card readers, etc.
And that's about it, think you're up to find something with these insane conditions? In return, I can offer everlasting affection and karma. Thanks in advance!
