Help! Need to Connnect my HDMI Laptop to VGA Projector

Hello, for an upcoming film convention I have to display video from my laptop to the projector. The problem is, my laptop only has a HDMI Port and the projector is VGA.

I've read similar questions posed by people online, but it's always pertaining to the presentation of powerpoints and documents. I, however, need to transmit my video/audio to the projector and it's speakers with no lag. What are my options?

What is the setup of the room. If there are discreete speakers you can get a hdmi to vga converter and then run a cable from the converter to the speakers http/www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812270626

Thanks so much for the response but the webpage only says the following: "1 projector, 1 screen, speakers and 1 microphone per room. The projectors come with VGA hookup only"

Yes your gonna need an extension cable

I was going to buy the converter you linked http/www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812270626 however it says "Converts VGA Source to HDMI Display" in the description.

Wouldn't my source be the laptop (HDMI) and the projector, the display (VGA)? I'm not knowledgeable on this so I'm probably wrong. Cool avatar btw ^.^
