Hi,

As the subject says I'm in the market for a new laptop I only want to spend about $800 though I might be flexible to go up to $1000. I built my own desktop and im just really unsatisfied with laptop performance. If I knew where to go for parts to build my own, I'd do it. Can I get some feedback on what you guys condsider to be the best buys for my price range? Thanks.

There are lots of reasons one might want a laptop, and there are lots of ways to waste money on features you don't need or won't use. Can you give us an idea of what features you'll need? Rate each of the following catagories from 1 to 5, 1 = not important to you... 5 = very important.

1) office work (ie word proccessing, internet browsing, etc...)

workstation apps (ie 3DStudio, Adobe Photoshop, etc...)

gaming (specifically, modern 3D games)

multimedia (music, movies, etc... will you need lots of storage space?)

small physical size (will you be carrying this to work every day?)

good battery life (do you want to use this on the plane/train/bus/etc...?)

Feel free to mention any other specific use and/or concerns you might have. Thanks.

What about the ABS Mayhem G3 Eclipse?
I relaly prefer AMD for processors, and I want 1024 MB ram and any sort of dedicated video card.
