Help required regarding checking media error

Hello everyone!
I have been using Lenovo Y-40 for over a year now but recently i got the "Checking Media error".
it says default boot device missing or boot failed.

I just want to know what this error is and what causes it.
And how to fix this.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

The system can't find the hard drive, reseat the hard drive and see if that fixes it. If not, go into the BIOS and make sure the drive is listed in the boot order, set it as the first one to boot from. If that does not work, you may need to try a different hard drive or at least try a clean Windows installation on yours.
