HELP - Windows XP

Hi All,
I have recently downgraded to Windows XP from Windows 7, this is because my Windows 7 crashed for some reason, before Windows 7 I had Windows Vista preinstalled when I bought this laptop, then I upgraded to Windows 7, when it crashed I went to Windows XP.

I have just installed Windows XP, however there is NO SOUND, NO WIRELESS - NO ANYTHING! Before on Windows 7 I could connect to the internet via my Intergrated Wireless Card, I also had Sound too.

I have checked Device Manager, my Atheros Integrated Card does **NOT** appear below Network Adapters and neither does my REALTEK sound card. I have made sure so the hidden stuff appears. This is rather frustrating, also please do not tell me to crack open my laptop to check it out, I can't do that because I'm not used to doing stuff like that.

What brand/model laptop is it? Many modern laptops don't have XP driver support anymore. Check your laptop manufacturer's support website to see if XP drivers are available and if so, download them to a USB drive or burn them to CD and you can install them that way.

when you change OS, you need to download the specific drivers for it. some of the drivers can be done through a windows driver finder, but most of them have to be done manually.

Hi, thanks for the link! I found the name of the NETWORK CARD via the link however it does not tell me what the name of the sound is? It just says 24 bit stereo.

You need to install the correct chip set drivers first. Xp probably has no idea what is connected to the chip set. Try that first and reboot. Then look for the devices in DM.

Why anyone would go from 7 to XP is beyond me. XP crashes 100x more than 7 and looks like garbage nowadays.

If happened on my laptop HP pavilion series too, Just download and install the HP XP sound driver in hp.com
