Help with laptop with black screen

Hello.

Couple of days ago i got a sony laptop with black screen when you turn it on. I first tried with external monitor, and there was a black screen too. So i thought that gpu is dead... I opened the laptop up and i saw that the connector with laptop's monitor is a little bit loose. I reatach it and turned the laptop on, and the screen worked.

My question is:

Why didnt i saw something on external screen when i tried it at beggining since that the laptop's monitor wasnt working because of the loose connection?

because even though you attached the external monitor, there is a switch to send the output to an external monitor. Something like FN F8 or something like that .

but sometimes when the laptop's monitor is dead and u use external monitor, it automaticlly shows picture on external monitor
