Sounds fine to me. Most audio you hear has been post processed, leads a lot of people to be unhappy with the raw audio they get. Take care to position the mic optimally for voice pickup (a few inches from the mic), the further away you are the worse it's going to sound. I have a blue yeti and I had to learn that the hard way.

Pop filters dampen noise and hard "splosive" sounds like hard Ps. Nothing to do with bass.

Yes. Open windows voice recorder and just play around. Try a few inches and you'll instantly see that the audio quality is much much better. A foot away is fine for general voice chat, not so much for things like voice overs and recording. Make sure the snowball is set to cardioid mode.
