help with soundbar

I have just bought a Samsung HW-H355 2.1 bluetooth sound bar that connects to my Samsung Smart tv via optical. How do i stream movies from my laptop to TV and get the sound from the sound bar? i use HDMI to connect laptop to TV, but the soundbar does not have HDMI? Is this still possibe? Hope this makes sense? Bottom line is that i want to stream movies from my laptop and watch on my big TV but sound coming from soundbar. Thanks

If you are not getting laptop sound on the TV speakers then you need to set the audio to output though the HDMI. Your TV should send the sound of your laptop to the soundbar.
If you do get sound on the TV speakers but not the soundbar then check the TV manual to see if there is a setting in the TV that must be changed.

The soundbar does not have an HDMI connection. Would the laptop sound still come out of the sound bar if i change setting on TV? the tv is connected to soundbar via optical? Thanks in advance.
