I know there is a sofware that prevent people from downloading stuff and modifying your computer. It also block some certain access in your computer(ie. My Computer, Start Menu, etc.). Can annyone recommend me some of the good name that produces this kind of software? Thank you!

I'm currently using zone alarm <A HREF="http/www.zonealarm.com" target="_new">http/www.zonealarm.com</A>. Might want to check it out. Protects from incoming attacks and shows which programs on your computer are trying access the internet. You allow or disallow programs from accessing the internet. It's also free which is nice. It also works in stealth mode so if your pinged it looks as if there is no computer on the other end. Also shows time and origin of attack. Its got a stop button so can kill your connection imediately to. You might want to check it. There's also Black Ice and several others.

I think he's looking for an administration program of some type that will restrict user rights. Sorry, I don't know of anything I can recommend.

What is your OS?
Even for Win9x without a network you can set a Windows logon prompt (Start>Setings>Control Panel>Network>Configuration>Primary Network Logon>Windows Logon), that won't allow to anybody just to hit <ESC> key in order to bypass it.
Activate the use of Profiles (Control Panel>Passwords>Change Passwords).

sorry, there're some optional software, sorry I'm not sure, probably Poledit (check www.Google) that lets to create and use system policies, more advanced security.

Or, better check the BIOS on your computer, most BIOS' today offer a User Password as a security option. When it is enabled, without a password the PC won't boot.
If you forgot the password, you wouldn't get into your machine without opening the box and investigating the motherboard first and doing some resettings after.

I'd really go for something other than win9/me as they just arnt secure in the way that you need, someone logged in to a 9x machine as a different user can easily access anything they arnt supposed to, I'd go for 2k if this is the type of security you need.

Hmm, Novell client is pretty good. If ya really want to get secure use fortress, but that's an extreme.

ok...I think y'all misunderstood about my question...what i need here is a software that can control the access of the whole computer...what i mean here is that u can customize the access of the icons and everyting else...For example, When u click on My Computer it won't let you go in there...or when u click on the start menu it'll only show up "Shut Down" and "Log Off"...i think this sofware is design to prevent people from messing up with the setting and downloading stuff into one's computer...do you see my point?

can do, compared again with what you need, it's exactly the same! You definetely can disable or hide everything from Start menu except Shutdown. Whatever you want actually.

But hey, the Poledit is kinda complicated...I don't think it's a good idea for my company cuz the people there are just "computer illiterate"...so I guess I'll go with Novell. What's the specific name of that software by Novell though?

Are you guys talking about Novell<A HREF="http/www.novell.com/ " target="_new"> Security Services or Netware </A>?
Probably it is<A HREF="http/www.novell.com/products/securelogin/quicklook.html" target="_new"> Novell SecureLogin </A>.
Would it be simpler and cheaper than Poliedit?
