Hi there, moved into a new build that has 4 ceiling speakers in an open area and 2 outdoor speakers. All I have is 6 wires in the closet. I read up on home audio but I am so confused on Ohms, watts and Imp. I have no info on these speakers and just wondering if I need an amp and speaker selector, or just a receiver, or receiver / speaker selector...any advise would help. I only want it for music. Thanks

You would need an amp with as many outputs as the speakers. If you want them all running at once you would need to make sure they can all be pushed at the same time. Some can only do two at a time with speaker selector You would need to find out what model those speakers are to see what amp you should get.

Look for a multi zone amplifier or a amp stereo amp with a speaker selector. 6 zone stuff gets up there in price, the good ones are in the $500 range. There are some cheaper models (way cheaper) but I can't vouch for how their quality is...
