High End PC Suddenly Getting Low FPS on Games That Weren't Previously Low

My MSi GE70 2PL Apache gaming laptop is suddenly experiencing low frame rate on some games that were previously fine, as well as barely running some games it should be able to. Deus Ex Human revolution DC and rocket league, as well as some others are suddenly getting below 20 frames depsite being fine before, and the battlefield 1 beta is getting less than 10 frames, despite the fact that my computer should be able to run it. I have installed all the latest Intel and nvidia drivers, and these are my specs:
GE force GTX 850M
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4720HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz
8 GB RAM (7.92 usable)
1920 x 1080, 59Hz
Nvidia driver 372.70
Microsoft windows 8.1

What's it doing during games? Do you have a history graph you can set up to record what's going on? Something like an Overlay so you can see what's going on when you're running a game? Checking temperatures, clock speeds, program interference (clean booting), and cleaning all drivers are good things to start with.

To add to pigeoncracker, you can try using task manager or process explorer (better version of task manager that i use) to see all background processes and anything that may be interfering with your PC.

I got the program, and ran it. I don't really understand what its saying, but Deus Ex was using about 20 CPU in the main menu, and around 10 in game. Nothing else is using any significant cpu other than 'System Idle Preferences' which is using between 80 and 90. I have no idea if this is normal or not. Just noticed that some of the games that dont work have a very weird and annoying graphicla error where everything jitters slightly if the game is in fullscreen.

Not really what I was looking for. There's not really much that it tells me. I was looking for a screen more like this, recording while you're playing a game or just being idle.

This was managed with EVGA's PrecisionX 16. You can use MSI Afterburner to the same effect, or another program. MSI's Afterburner is going to have the graphs straight away on the front page, and PrecisionX has it under HW Monitoring in the menu top left of the program.

Clean booting doesn't delete anything. It stops all programs except for the essentials from running at startup so you can see if a program is causing those FPS drops.

I just remembered you were using a laptop. MSI Afterburner gives errors on laptops for whatever reason, so you should've have used it. But whatever.

If you can bring it to an IT guy that'd be awesome. He would be able to help a lot faster than anyone online. I prefer hands on myself. Though I am interested in what the issue was if you end out bringing it to him. Tell me once you figure out?

Sorry for the late reply. From what I can see there isn't any program that is draining your system resources. CPU usage for Deus Ex is fine. Also keep an eye on physical usage, which is just the percentage of RAM currently being used by all the programs that are running. Good luck on getting it fixed

I did it! I neglected going to some other source of help for a while because CSGO and Age of Empires II weren't affected, and i was too lazy, and I thought to check that all games were actually using my graphics card. They weren't. Somehow I had changed the default to built in graphics, which were obviously not very effective. I changed the default back to my card, and all games seem to work again. Yay! Sorry for wasting everybody's time with my dumb and thanks for all the help.
