Interesting. I have long felt that most Apple products should be shelved.

Bravo, sir.

Ok Ive tried to stay unbiased about this.
But really? on any given day there is 3-4 articles about Ipad/Iphone/Ipod on the articles section..most of them rather pointless and/or scrapping for I(whatever) news.

A piece of wood with a charger in it is Article worthy?

We have more news about apple accessories that are run of the mill..or articles about:
"someone used the Ipad to do (something)"
or
"(someone) likes the Ipad,,story below"

sure its tech news..of sorts, but NO other tehc new sites post 1/2 as many Apple related articles as Toms, well other than the deticated Apple fan sites.

but if they spent as much time making articles about the various other accessories for other products and posting about them anytime someone used one, or liked one, it wouldn't seem quite as skewed towards the "Toms makes 1000 bucks from Apple per techpost" as it seems now.

LOL @figgus

Unfortunatley there will be people that think this is cool though (like tom's reporters for a start hehe).

good way to break the docking of the iPod... plug it into a shelf, on the edge, and put stuff on the shelf, behind the iPod... Grab the book, in turn pulls on the iPod and breaks it as it falls to the ground. Nice...

According to the article it is not just for iPod. There are additional ports which allow it to be used with other audio devices.

"Other pertinent specs: the Hohrizontal 51 features a frequency range of 50 to 25 Hz, and uses two 25 watt speakers."

Is that supposed to be 50hz to 25,000hz?
Humans hear from 20hz to 20,000hz when you are a new born, but most people in an industrial society have trouble hearing above 15,000hz do to hearing damage. Throwing out a number like 25,000hz looks impressive but is meaningless. I'd rather them improve the low end 50hz is unimpressive.

The Apple news on this site gets stupider and stupider with each passing day...

I have a feeling this wont sound that good at all. Just two speakers covering that whole range (50hz - 25khz) is just asking for distortion.

Exactly.

In related news; A Tom's Guide reader just read another article about the iPod, iPad or iDontGiveAFuck.

This comments on here are becoming more and more similar to Youtube, i guess as the Youths grow older and move onto more specialist sites!

Why do Apple related gadgets tend to always make us smile?!
Seriously, if I send a picture of my UTP wall socket will THG make news of it?

The articles are becoming more and more like a apple tech news site.

seriously, an article about how a women loves her iPad? thats on opinion, of one person. not a news item.
OR
lawyer using one in a court room? I have yet see an article about someone using anything, anywhere, and how they liked it on this site, other than the apple ones.

if its Apple tech news (that's actually news..not something Id read on a apple users twitter "used iPad in court today, worked well") I wouldn't mind.

even G4 skips these 'news' tidbits as useless..and they report on ANYTHING to fill airtime.

I use to come to Toms to read up on new tech advancements, and reviews...now I have to pick and choose articles thats actually interesting and talk about new technologies.

not to read that someone slapped 2 laptop speakers and some wires into a piece of wood calling it an ipod deck. that's not new tech, or even advancing current tech.

also I think its strange how every now and then only the Apple articles get mysteriously "bumped" back to the first page list from page 3..
its like incase someone missed it, lets move it back to the top 10 latest articles.

First off, that is a hilarious comment.

I would never purchase this product. While the concept is interesting(jokingly and seriously), I would never hand such an ugly thing in my home. It needs to have more design options(varying wood colors, painted colors, etc). This thing looks like someone collected all the 1970's cheap wood paneling to make these things.
