I have a home theatre setup on a computer.

Biostar M7VIT800 Mobo
AMD 3200+ CPU
1000 MB Memory
Maxtor HD
Sony DRU-540A DVD Re-Writer
TEAC DW-552G 16x DVD-ROM
Chaintech 7.1 (AV-710) Audio Card
nVidea GeForce FX 5200 256MB Ram Video Card
Philips SA-7130 PC TV Card
MidiLand MX-5 Speakers
VIZIO-C20L LCD HDTV (Monitor)

I am presently using (trying to) Airboard Wireless Keyboard/Mouse (mouse built-in). This is a serial port unit and comes with Win98 Driver software. I run Win 2000. I have found Win 2K drivers but they are sporadic at best.

What I need is some advice on what kind of keyboard/mouse setup would work good for my setup.
I want the mouse built into the keyboard (couch potato qualified), with trackball or mini joystick.

Is USB wireless good? :?:

I have seen many on the net for sale but don't know which is best, because of my inexperience with them. :roll:

Can anyone recommend a good wireless keyboard/mouse. Prefer brand name product. :?:

I'm using an Adesso. It has a laptop-size keyboard with a built-in touchpad. It isn't perfect, but it's not bad. Nice and small.

I have a suspicion that small amounts of foreign material (water, dust, finger oil, whatever) on the touchpad can cause it to remain "active", draining the battery. No facts behind this, just a suspicion driven by battery life which isn't so great. If you get one, get rechargable batteries and a charger. It's not horrible, mind, but not like a remote control lifespan either.

Just FYI: the Adesso I have doesn't have any multimedia keys on it. I use an iMon IR remote (it came with my case) for most MCE things, and the keyboard whenever I need to enter text, use a mouse a lot or dive into Windows. The iMon is very configurable, in that you can associate any button with any key combination, and apply that either to Windows or to a specific program.

Since you're not on MCE, I can't make a recommendation for the MSFT MCE keyboard. I don't know how configurable that is for whatever multimedia program you're using.

I just connected my PC to Samsung 40inch LCD TV, but my regular keyboard and mouse aren't working well because it only works 5 feet away from the receiver, so I did a lot of research on HTPC keyboard and find out there are a lot of options for it. I really can't afford those logitech and microsoft because it cost over $120 to $200 for a wireless keyboard with pointing device. Finally I got a 2.4 GHz wireless keyboard with laser trackball from WWW.ERGOGEEK.COM. They have a lot of HTPC keyboard available and the price range is around $45 to $85, so I call them and ask for suggestions with my HTPC setting. They suggested me to use the newest model which is $66.45 with free shipping. The model number is Zippy RF-666 laser trackball keyboard. I received it within 3 days after I placed an order and it is shipped by UPS. The keyboard works perfectly for the HTPC. I really love this keyboard because it has a (1)built in laser trackball, (2) Scroll Wheel, (3)On/Off button , (4) MCE hotkeys, (5) Adjustable mouse speed setting to 400, 800, 1200 dpi, (6) Scissor keys.

I plug in the USB receiver into my computer and turn on the keyboard, it connected by itself automatically. It has more than 10 meters operation range and it never drop keys even if I type very fast. The keystoke feels very good since it is scissor keys style like our standard notebook keys. Trackballl move very smooth and you can adjust the speed to fit your need. The scorll wheel is perfect when you are surfing the interent. You won't feel this keyboard is made with cheap plastic from China.

It is a great buy and I will refer other HTPC users to use this keyboard for their system.

Wow, I just bought a small but useful HTPC keyboard and it is just $40.

It is new in the market, handheld and slim, keyboard, mouse and touchpad 3-in-1.

When I surfed it before, I still hesitated. After viewing its video demonstration, I finally bought it. I got it days ago and I loved it now.
