Unreasonable search has already been defined by law: police and security agencies need to demonstrate probable cause or have a judicially issued warrant to conduct searches. It's unreasonable to do so if they can not so a reason to search that specific person.

Now, if you've got a really nervous sweaty guy named Abdul refusing to go through the metal detector, that's probable cause, and that's fine. Putting Joe Bloe, his wife Jane, and their to kids Jessica and Joe Jr through, along with everyone else, simply because they want to board a plane, there is no probably cause for a strip search.

People already smuggle surgically implanted drugs --- lets face it, someone about to blow themselves up won't object to having surgically implanted explosives and if done right No Search will uncover them at all.

How long till the US decides that all people Have to be implanted with chips at birth that can track them WhereEver they go by satellite...

and then while you are at it why not incorporate a "Sleep Switch" to drop any suspect at the press of a button "Just in Case" --- After all, if it saves ONE life it will have all been worth it right???

A boat takes too long, which will bring in car travel, etc.

You need to do more than skim. The right to cross state lines is under that wonderful catch-all called the Commerce Clause. Only in this case it's one of the best fits, since one is paying money to cross state lines, which is definitely Interstate Commerce no matter how one looks at it.

That also gives Congress the power to regulate, which means some bright person in DC is going to start hearings, which could make matters worse...

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I would suspect these would only be used as part of random searches (ie profiling and those who purchase with cash) and searches due to probable cause. I couldn't see these being used on every single person coming through an airport simply due to the time it would take to do this. Lines are bad enough as is with people who don't understand that, yes, those coins your their pocket are metal and will set off a detector.

I don't see these scanners being fast enough to search everyone in a timely manner.

How would that make things worse? Congress usually acts with the highest standard of ethics and effeciency.

High tech is not always the answer...I don't know perhaps it is the influence of Hollywood but Americans always seem to be looking for the "Ultimate comupterized undefeatable weaponized system" or scanner in this case.
Listen guy's...it doesn't exist....old saying....whatever one man can make another can break.
Multilayered simple and effective measures are all that are required to provide acceptable security (remember 100% does not exist).

A good start would be via simple things like communication...you know if someone tells staff in an American consulate they fear their son may be a terrorist it might be a good idea to action that.

Passenger profiling....most of these people are traveling alone...this latest guy didn't even have any luggage....and sorry if it offends guys but we can't afford to be politically correct...religious beliefs.

Physical checks dogs and security staff talking to passengers....can you imagine how much adrenaline must be running through these guys viens when they are approaching such a check point....I would imagine the sweat must be beading on their foreheads and really quite easy to spot if we didn't rely on these distant more "sophisticated" methods.
In fact dogs could be used in other ways rather than just as exposive sniffers....many people who are severly epileptic have dogs that can detect often hours before the event when a person is going to have a seizure noticing minute changes in the way they act....surely it would be possible to like wise train dogs to recognise signs of anxiety and thus possibly invovled in terrorism...again not infalable as some are anxious about flying but just another layer of relatively inexpensive protection.
Just my views...we need to be more hands on and not put all our eggs in one basket.

If this were so why is the US economy in shambles and in the middle east they have enough cash to build indoor ski resorts... also would be intresting on how to look at what we have done to rebuild the world rebuilding tyoko, humanitarian releafe, cutting down the drug trade, helping rebuild eourpe not onece but twice...i can keep going. What happened to the police dogs trained to find explosives? They used to be doing a pretty good job, weren't they? and they are still being used in ports in areas dealing with commercial shipping.

Your Argument makes no sense. There are many things in the US that are a privilege. These activities are still covered under the Constitution. Why would something that is a privilege be exempt from being covered. Honestly, that's not even sensible logic . As long as you are on US soil, you are covered under the Constitution.

And, what does Israel have to do with the US. As for me, I have no desire to go to Israel, as you claim, but I have no problem with them either. They can do whatever they want. My only concern is my country. I guess what you aren't grasping is that once a technology is okay in one place, then it gets adopted everywhere else. You won't be able to go into any courtroom etc... without being scanned. That includes if you are being called to Jury Duty etc... In that case you would have no choice in the matter, so the scans would be forced upon you. Aside from that, for business reasons, many people are forced to fly because of their jobs. So, again, your comments make no sense and aren't well conceived.

As far as the funboy thing (don't you mean fanboy?), all you "hawks" are calling our founding fathers "liberals" for writing the constitution. Apparently, you all have a problem with the US. There is nothing holding you back from leaving this "liberal" country.
