Hooked JVC dvd player to LG 42L67D-UB PICTURE BUT NO SOUND

Hooked a dvd player to my HD LG TV. Using rca cables cause my dvd player doesnt have a HDMI PORT.. It has a optical port. I have a good clear picture but not a bit of sound.

I don't see any details about that TV model connections, are you sure you have the right audio out from the DVD player going to the right input on the TV?
