How can I download my Canon Rebel EOS to windows 8.1?

The Canon website said that no driver is required but when I connect the computer I get a message that says it does not recognize my device.

Check the windows compatibility center to see your canon is compatible to win8.1 or not.

If it does, just unplug it, then plug it in then turn on the camera to see the pc can see it or not, or try to use "scan for hardware changes" feature.
