How can I input sound from my computer

I have the asus striker extreme motherboard, which came with it's own sound card. I have 2x 8800 GTS 512mb (G92) but I do not have an HDMI input. Any ideas? I was thinking about buying a 200$ HD audio... If I can get a better signal than DTS. It would have to be inputed through the optical connection, which I read can not carry the highest quality. Then again, with sound I am not that picky, just trying to get an upgrade from my 8 yr. old speakers.

Specs: Q6600 Xeon processor, Asus striker extreme mobo, 2x 8800 GTS 512s, 4g Corsair Dominators, 850W PS... if you need anything else I will be checking in today. Feel free to ask me or to move this post if it is in the wrong spot. I am going to re-read that tom's guide on PC home theatre.

(btw I have optical cables, which I'm 90% sure are the right kind and high quality if that helps)

DTS is one of the conversion that carry highest quality signal you'll see in audio equipment.

HDMI carry the same audio signal as the optical, coax, or any other S/PDIF connection cable but instead of separating the video and audio on a different cable it uses only one cable.

I don't know anything higher than a DTS, but if you're thinking of DTS-HD, it's still DTS.

HDMI cable is like having DVI and SPDIF wires into one cable.

no idea, my solution was buying the card and sending out audio with a fiber optic connection to a nice best buy speaker system. easy as pie
