Solved! How do I bypass a Master HDD password on a gateway laptop

I have a 5 yr old Gateway laptop, model M3 I want to save if I can. When I power up, the screen says HDD Lock. Can't get to the Windows screen. Appreciate any help I can get. Thx. P.S....I am a retired cop, the laptop is NOT hot!

a HDD password CANNOT be bypassed. no way, no how, no chance.
