how do i clean bose companion 5 sound pod?

My Bose companion 5 sound pod makes sound fluctuations. It is frustrating. Bose guys said I have to replace the piece coz dust has gone in it and there is no way to clean it.
Is there a way I can clean it? would the carbon cleaning fluid help?

If you want to use what you might have at home try isopropyl alchohol. Don't use enough to drip where you don't want it.

I had the same problem. I solved with below simple steps:
- Switch off the speaker power
- Remove the plug which connects the control pod to the speaker
- Put it back firmly
- Power on the speakers
