How do I compress frap videos?

So I am having an awful time figuring this out. I see this youtubers with great looking minecraft videos and I try to make one and this is what I get:

The recording is not the issue. I am recording it in 30fps in fraps with it set in 1280x720p so I should be getting 720p. As usual the problem always lies in compressing. Something I do when compressing screws up the 720p quality. I am trying to stop that from happening. So what is the best way to compress?

What program are you using to compress the video? If FRAPS, what compression settings are you using?

load the video into windows movie maker and save it as a youtube video format - will take a long time to load into movie maker - or use winavi
