How do I connect a Philips DVD player to a Westinghouse flat screen?

I been trying for the last hour to connect the DVD to the TV but it is not connecting. Someone please helP my son is going crazy without his cartoons

Going to need more information than that.

What model numbers?
What outputs does the DVD player have?
What inputs does the Flat Screen have?
Are you sure your HDTV is set to the correct input?

There are different connection options depending.
If your have HDMI on both then use an HDMI cable.
Next best connection requires 3 RCA cables for video and 2 RCA cables for audio.
Third option is 1 RCA for video and 2 RCA for audio.
On some TVs if you want to use the last option this connection is shared with the second option so you have to go into the TV menu and set the input for composite video instead of component video.
