How do i connect both a vga monitorr and hdmi monitor to my laptop?

Hi, ive got two monitors, one which is HDMI connection and another VGA connection. I want to connect both to my laptop but in the screen resolution settings only allow me to have one and keep switching between the two of them.
How do I connect it to both of them?

Most laptops only support one external monitor. Sometimes 2 can be used with a docking station.

The vast majority of laptops can only output one video signal. You can buy an external USB video device like the following to use the 2nd monitor.
