how do i connect my rca Rtd3236eh theater system. it only works with dvd player but not tv

I can not get sound from my surround system while watching TV. What do I need to do to get this to work. I have 60 inch lg flat screen TV

Do you have your cable or satellite box connected directly to the TV instead of routing it through your A/V receiver? The best way to hook up your equipment (simply, mind you) is as follows:

Cable/SAT/Blu Ray/etc output > A/V receiver via HDMI input > A/V receiver via HDMI output > TV input
