how do i get my ps3 to show up on my laptop screen with a hdmi cable

I hooked up the ps3 to the laptop, but I don't know how to pull the ps3 up onto my laptop screen.

Hi, you can't connect your PS3 to have the picture on the screen's laptop. The HDMI in your laptop is an output, not an input.
Some laptops have an input for the HDMI, but the majority of laptops don't have the input.

Where did you hook it up to? Does your laptop have a video INPUT? Most laptops use video OUTPUTS to display onto a secondary monitor. You cannot use an video out port for video in.

Remember the laptop is mostly a video source like your PC3. While it does have an attached screen, most laptops will use VIDEO OUT ports rather than video IN.

well the laptop uses the hdmi as an output not as input,

To the best of my knowledge only Alienware have or had laptops where the HDMI port could be used for both input and output. Do they still do in current models? Don't know since I do not bother with Alienware.
